Through a phytotoxicity experiment and a microbial metagenome analysis, I isolated a plant-microbe symbiont that effectively and efficiently degraded diesel fuel hydrocarbons. I am confident that this innovation will revolutionize the way oil spills and other organic contaminants are cleaned up.
